What on earth does it mean when?

Question by Heaven is boring: What on earth does it mean when?
Technology devices have sex appeal?

I find this funny:

"Andy Ihnatko, a tech columnist at the Chicago Sun-Times, said Apple could call its new gadget a "mangled baby duck" and people would still buy it, both because Apple has sex appeal and because the iPad is a good product"

i think its more of a link, just like gillette razors, you see the commercial with a sexy shaven man (mind on topic people :-P) and you think that the product IS that man, just like the type of person that you would own a mac, especially if it fit into the nice asthetics of a well paid and toned - graphic artist, its kind of appealing.

but i suppose that depends on your view,

or you could be a technophile (im gussing that word exists, like autophile/autophilia =sexual preference for cars)

in which case an iphone in a tight bikini might do it for you.

at the end of the day, sexy as a description of a product is just to conform to the old marketing ploy "sex sells" and by saying something has sex appeal will link that product to the part of the mind that thinks about sex and the feelings etc etc

marketing is a devious business.
hope that helps ^_^
